DRT Team Brings Home the Bacon
The team had an excellent showing at the recently concluded New Zealand Society of Diversional and Recreational Therapy (NZSDRT) Annual Conference 2023, held in Wellington.
The conference theme was "Wananga ki te manawa o Aotearoa – te tangata, te tikanga, te wawata" – Meeting at the heart of New Zealand: People, Purpose & Passion.
All entries from Sound Care Group received recognition, testament to the commitment and hard work of the DRT team, led by Programme Leader AJ Aledron.
Epiphany Claravall-Jackson of Cambridge Life and Steele Park Home was named a finalist for the Judy Cooper National Excellence Award. Her entry, titled Sound Care Connect, was a case study on community involvement as an important and integral part of a home's DRT programme. The event coincided with her graduation as a National Registered Diversional and Recreational Therapist, giving her cause for a double celebration.
The group also shone at the conference competitions, with all three entries making the top three:
- Best Video – 1st place, Maridel Zorilla, Cambridge Life
- Best Poster – 2nd place, Epiphany Claravall-Jackson, Cambridge Life / Steele Park Home
- Best Photo – 3rd place, Maria Luz Bogtae, Athenree Life
